Description

The summer and autumn of 1931 is a time of awakening for young Ockie McCorkle. Growing up in a poor cotton mill worker's home doesn't provide much extra money for luxuries such as bicycles. This summer also produces two of Ockie's lifelong loves, baseball and Darlene Oliver. Follow Ockie as he learns to have the courage to dream beyond the mill village. The dream of owning an American Flyer bicycle soon transforms Ockie as he realizes that that the love of God and family are the most important possessions a person can have.
